Measurements of the Magnetic Moment of the E + and E- Hyperons and of Hyperon Radiative Decays(*)

We have made a high-precision measurement of the magnetic moment of the Z + hyperon, using the precession of the spin in a conventional magnetic field. We have also made the first measurement of the magnetic moment of its antiparticle, the Z. In a separate experiment, we have demonstrated the precession of spin during channelling in a bent crystal, allowing a complementary measurement of the E + magnetic moment. This technique has promise for the measurement of magnetic moments of charmed baryons. We also present results on the branching ratio and asymmetry parameter in the decay z+ __~ py, and studies of the decays E----)~y and ~ ~ V y.
